A New Era of Open Competition for HPC Begins

Addison Snell,

As published in The Next Platform Every year people ask me what I think the biggest news story is at the annual Supercomputing Conference (SC). I look at product announcements, of course, and SC15 promises to have some big ones, but ultimately, the biggest stories are the ones that have context and meaning beyond individual products, standards that are emerging or mergers that are evolving. In that light, this year’s most important development may have occurred already.

2015 HPC Market Update

Addison Snell,

As published in Data Vortex   In this video from the 2015 HPC Advisory Council Switzerland Conference, Addison Snell from Intersect360 Research presents: HPC Market Update. The drive toward exascale computing, a renewed emphasis on data-centric processing, energy efficiency concerns, and the limitations of memory and I/O performance are all working to reshape High Performance Computing platforms. Many-core accelerators, flash storage, 3D memory, integrated networking, and optical interconnects are just some of the technologies propelling these future architectures....
