Industry Study Addresses Needs Outlined by HPC-AI Leadership Organization (HALO)
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—April 1, 2025— HPC, AI, and hyperscale analyst firm Intersect360 Research today announces its upcoming “State of the HPC-AI Market” report series as part of its research calendar for 2025. The new initiative responds directly to needs expressed by the HPC-AI Leadership Organization (HALO), a global community of users of high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (HPC-AI) technologies spanning use cases across both industry and public-sector research.
Based on surveys of HALO members, the “State of the HPC-AI Market” report series will outline key trends across the industry in context with current market dynamics. Survey respondents will indicate the technologies they have currently deployed and how they plan to transition to the future. This consists of a “satisfaction gap” analysis of any areas where buyers are having the most trouble finding solutions that fit their needs. The reports will also include vendor-provided content on the latest offerings from the top identified providers.
“HALO members have told us clearly what information they need to guide their future HPC-AI deployments, comparing their own internal needs to peers worldwide,” said Intersect360 Research CEO Addison Snell. “We can provide this guidance with our global market surveys and a level platform for comparing vendor’s solutions in the context of market needs.”
To provide a deep dive into critical HPC-AI market needs, the report series will be divided into seven technology modules, each with its own survey and analysis:
- Storage and data management: storage systems and components, including flash, disk, and tape; file systems and data management software; archives; cloud storage
- Systems: Servers and clusters; integrated solutions; includes OEMs and ODMs; standards such as OCP
- Cooling / Facilities: All power and cooling technologies at the component, rack, or data center level
- Quantum computing: Components, systems, software, and solutions for quantum computing
- Interconnects and networking: System-level and node-level interconnects; storage interconnects; includes emerging/growth technologies such as composability and photonics
- Processing architectures: All processing elements (excluding quantum), including CPUs and accelerators: x86, ARM, RISC-V, POWER, GPUs, FPGAs, and AI co-processors
- Cloud computing: Including major global enterprise clouds, AI-focused or application-specific clouds; cloud enablement services; on-premises as-a-Service models
Leading vendors in each category will be invited to submit content describing their relevant products and solutions, conforming to fixed word and image counts. There is no charge for participation. Invitations will be determined by Intersect360 Research and HALO members based on market presence, future outlook, and regional significance.
Prominent users of HPC-AI technologies are looking forward to the report series. “As we plan the evolution of Pawsey’s advanced computing services, it is important to have the latest market information and technology trends from across our region and around the world,” said Mark Stickells, CEO of the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre in Australia and Chair of the HALO Asia-Pacific Advisory Committee.
Paul Muzio, global facilitator for HALO, concurs with the need for the study. “Our HALO Advisory Committee members are concerned with the challenges in creating optimal HPC-AI environments, balancing homogenous and heterogeneous systems, and integrating diverse processor types,” said Muzio. “This report series addresses that concern.”
The “State of the HPC-AI Market” report series will be published in stages from June through September as part of the complete 2025 research agenda from Intersect360 Research, alongside studies on the interrelationships between HPC and AI spending, segmentation of the hyperscale AI market, and global HPC-AI market forecasts. Data and insights from these reports will be available at no charge to HALO members and subscribers to the Intersect360 Research HPC-AI market advisory service, or through individual sales.
